The Beginning of the End
Alston

Full of everything we need in funk, a guitar riff that's born from some of that Nassau sunshine which leads you into a horn chorus that'll knock you over. So goddamn soulful and so funky. Ray Munnings' vocals are in total sync for the 3 min 10 second roll of pure groove. A definite daily basis tune. However there are two sides to this super funk band, we have since found other titles by the band and they just don't cut it. 'Monkey Tamarind' has been really the only other tune we can say follows 'Funky Nassau' and is perhaps too similar but never the less still funky. There is also recent re-issues of their self-titled second album and 'Funky Nassau' LP

There is an ocean of music, and for all the great records that we hear and love we still stand upon the beach.

The Blue Rhythm Combo & Spitting Image
Funky Variation Records (Soul Patrol)

We recently saw The Blue Rhythm Combo ‘Take The Funky Feeling’ for a more than a couple of hundred, English sterling, on the Jazzman rare 45’s list. Needless to say if we did have the money, what would we be thinking. Oh it would be worth every penny if we could. we love most of the funk we hear, from The PC’s LTD to Parliament, but only once in a while do we find a record where we would consider certain priorities. We really do sit down and play both sides over for a good half hour. Which does bring us to the flip 'JB's Latin', flute funk that makes for the break of breaks and alike to the Blue Rhythm Combo, some solid vocals but this time in full grunt fashion. Sadly finding this vinyl really is a matter of luck, unless you do have the money for the originals, in which case that is lucky.

The Brothers Seven
Funk 45
Two organ grinding heavy funk monsters that let you have it for what’s in store. The first of many rareties to be released by the Jazzman.

Some of the early Funk 45 label releases are out of stock on Jazzman.co.uk, but they are still available elsewhere.

We were completly captivated with this record from the first hearing. Not knowing who the artist was or title of the tune we sent out a few feeders and thanks to Jazzman Gerald, a copy now sits in the Naldertown funk collection. O.K it's not the best copy but we knew this on payment and would love a mint one if anyone would like to part with it for a fiver. A Stormin funk vocal that will get a play from us repeatedly.
There are a few copies floating on the net but who knows how much you could end up paying?? Just prepare ones self.
