It took us a while to realise the full quality of this record, this is where we really found feeling, true grit, true musical feeling. I guess it’s what makes something like this so rare, not as vinyl but sound. You have to go deep with it, you really gotta listen. Since this we seem to have developed new ears, it’s taken us further into wanting more of this sound. Funky tough!
First release for new label, Sticky Records, with some nice, deep, layed back beats and organ. Another one of those rare Texas gems that could take you years to turn up but now available on this great looking little 45 reissue. By all accounts the Sticky Record outfit seems to be right on the ball and I'm sure we can expect more in due time. Click to their site for shop and nice research on, The Fabulous Capris.
The detroit based 'Hentch Men', gather up all the raw and gritty sound of teenage garage rock, to deliver one of the greatest should be, skate vid tracks we have heard since the days of H-Street's 'Shackle Me Not' back in 88. we say garage rock but would very easily take The hentch Men out of that genre, purely because they do quite simply, have thier own sound. It can all feel very home made on the production, especially with the vocals but that is where the edge of thier style comes into play. One for the punks and skaters, love the harmonica too.
If you want to buy this record or you want to know more on the band or others alike, seek nortonrecords.com. They have a vast number of collectable vinyls from, rocker billy, punk, garage, R&B and some funk nestled in the depths, check Andre Williams.
'The Mule', a super funky instrumental version of 'Hitch it to the Horse' by The Fantastic Johnny C, signed sealed and stamped for quality. Kicks immediately into a huge bass line supported by a bad ass beat, then a funky horn that sounds like a donkey blowing the sax. So good! Just doesn't stop, the guitar riff keeps it alive from all angles and performs a real southern style. Up beat and magic.
B/W 'The horse' more of a Northern number in my opinion and that ain't worth shit when it comes to Northern. It's a good tune and early in its style but I just want more of the mule. Vocal would be nice. Original pressing 'Phil L.A'
